*MARTIAL STATUS : Married Anastasia in 1996, but they have been divorced for several
years now. Mike recently got remarried in 2004, but is now divorced again after his wife left him because "he was spending
too much time in the studio." I have heard that Mike has a new girlfriend.

Mike was adopted because his herion-addicted mom didn't feel she could take care of him. His adoptive parents divorced when
he was 6, and both are now remarried. I know Mike has at least one step sister, named Myla, but I don't know of anymore.

*INSTRUMENTS : Bass, farfisa, guitar, drums,
and a baseball bat.

Mike Dirnt got his name back in high school, when he would pretend to play the bass in school. He would
make the noise of someone playing single notes on a bass, which sounded like "Dirnt, dirnt, dirnt" so the kids called him
Mike Dirnt. He later made that his official stage name.
Mike used to play an old Gibson G-3 bass, but during Nimrod Billie got Mike his first Fender Precision Bass. Mike recently asked Fender if they could make him a custom P-bass and the result is a bass modeled after
the 55' P-bass with a split-coil pickup in the middle. It was released in early 2004.
Mike is also a bassist in another band called The Frustrators. They only play when they all can get
together (which is rare).
Mike Dirnt, was born on May 4, 1972 into poverty. Mike's mother was a herion addict. He was given
up for adoption when he was a baby. During his childhood, he went between familes for awhile. When Mike was just 6 years old,
his foster parents got divorced, so Mike settled with his adoptive mother and older sister. Mike met Billie when they were
in 5th grade in the school cafeteria, and they have been best friends ever since. Eventually, Mike even rented a room in Billie's
house, and worked along side of Billie's mom at Rod's Hickory Pit. Both Billie and Mike were fascinated by punk rock music,
and later the pair formed Sweet Children. Unlike Billie, Mike earned good grades in high school, and he even completed some
courses at a local community college.
Mike married his girlfriend Anastasia in 1996 and
had a daughter named Estelle-Desiree (b. April 1997). They divorced in 1999 because of the pressures of Mike being in Green
Day. They are still good friends despite the divorce and Mike often visits his daughter.Mike loves his daughter very much,
and his nickname for her is "Hero". I have also heard that Mike is engaged for a second time. He currently resides in
Oakland, California.
